Three short poems to inspire stillness
Use them as you wish: as writing prompts, pressure relief, or a quiet moment. Plus, an Eckhart Tolle quote, affirmation, and more!
Here are three short poems to inspire a moment of stillness and flow.
Use them as you wish:
As writing prompts.
A bottle opener for the mind.
A quiet moment to breathe in new thoughts before the day begins.
Woods
I wish to grow dumber,
to slip deep into woods that grow blinder
with each step I take,
until the fingers let go of their numbers
and the hands are finally ignorant as paws.
Unable to count the petals,
I will not know who loves me,
who loves me not.
Nothing to remember,
nothing to forgive,
I will stumble into the juice of the berry, the shag of bark,
I will be dense and happy as fur.
The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
Watching the Rower
Oh to find that still surface,
the glide of silk and silence,
sun lit along the oars,
the mind in the arms, threading
the seams of each moment.
Did any of these touch you today?

Good Question
Move up the ladder to higher vibrations by writing at the top of a blank page:
Do I believe that good things happen to me?
and see what flows from your pen. No judgment or editing.
