When what we want hasn't manifested
I'm spilling the tea on two obstacles that stop us from believing that thoughts become things. You don't want to miss this. Plus, a Mike Dooley quote and more!
When it comes to making our thoughts become things, there are two main reasons we might not believe it's real:
1) Things we’ve wanted badly haven’t become a reality
2) Some experiences we’ve had–pleasant or not–happened without us thinking about them beforehand.
Good reasons, right?
There's an explanation for both, and I can't wait to share the juicy details with you.
Hopefully, this means you'll believe that thoughts become things after today's post.
When what we want hasn't manifested
Maybe we’ve dreamed of something for months or years, and it never happened.
I can think of a handful myself.
So why is thoughts become things considered a true and unchanging principle?
Mike Dooley says:
“The answer is very simple. We never want just one thing, do we? Nor do we ever think just one thought . . . isn’t there a possibility . . . that some of our thoughts may contradict one another or even be mutually exclusive?”
Once I became aware of this concept, I could think of many contradictory thoughts.
Just because we don’t get what we want most doesn’t mean we’re not getting what we think about.
This is where aligning our beliefs with our dreams becomes even more critical.
When we root out limiting beliefs and exchange them for empowering and helpful ones, our thoughts naturally align with our dreams without conscious effort.
Why unexpected experiences happen
What about unexpected or unplanned experiences?
I love the explanation for this one.
Every time we think of a new thought, a journey is set into motion.
It meets us where we're at, point A, and defines a new destination, point B.
We'll inevitably encounter unthought-of experiences to get to point B because we need to evolve to a place where we can receive the manifestation.
Mike Dooley says:
"Whenever you think a new thought, it has to deal with where you currently are in your life in order to take you where your new thinking lies. And in getting from point A to point B, you'll very often have to be drawn through unthought-of territory . . . Anything and everything that does happen would be predicated on all your other thoughts about life, people, and the journey."
Here's a diagram I drew to illustrate this concept:
Every unexpected and unplanned experience happens as part of the journey of a thought becomes reality.
We can't control their existence, but we can control the beliefs and other thoughts that affect our unplanned experiences.
Mike Dooley says:
"You see, whenever something unexpected or unthought of falls onto our path, it's always a stepping stone in a journey to a 'place' that we have been thinking about . . ."
When we think of a thought, its purpose is to manifest itself as quickly as possible.
Whatever journey the thought needs to travel on to get us there, it will take.
Seeing every event on our journey as helpful in getting us to point B is a great way to process whatever–pleasant or painful–comes our way.
Do you struggle with these obstacles, too?
Do you believe that thoughts become things?
Please share your thoughts!

Move up the ladder to higher vibrations by writing at the top of a blank page:
What beliefs do I have that may work against what I want?
and see what flows from your pen. No judgment or editing.
